Treats & Sweets for the Holiday Season


Happy Holidays!

Chef Kaala Lawla is back with more tasty treats & yummies for the entire family. We are still licking our fingers from the lunch recipes she cooked up in the last article! This time, she’s getting families ready for some Christmas cheer with these yummy recipes:

Its that time of year again. The time when we spend most of your time in the kitchen trying to make the perfect treat or snack for our family. Don’t you wish that you can just snap your fingers and *puff* it’s done?

We all love that great taste of sweet, melt-in-your-mouth-treats and we also love it, even more, when our friends & family love them too. Here are some recipes of easy tasty treats and snacks that can be served over the holiday as well as be given as small gifts. These recipes can be used by many and are fun, versatile and great for the Holidays. So, let’s DO THIS!!!!

First, here are some small savory snacks that can be enjoyed on Christmas Eve night with family or friends.

POP Munchies

Christmas Waffles

Pull apart Christmas Bread

(lovely addition to dinner)


1 bag of freshly popped popcorn

1 Bag of M&Ms of your choice

2 candy canes

1 bar of semi-sweet chocolate bar


  1. Place freshly popped popcorn in large bowl
  2. Add M&Ms to popcorn
  3. Crush candy canes into small pieces and add to popcorn and M&Ms mixture.
  4. In a separate container place chocolate bar.
  5. In a saucepan boil water, then place the container with a Chocolate bar over boiling water, stir until fully melted.
  6. Once fully melted, pour over popcorn mixture, mixture, and spread out on a sheet pan until cooled
  7. Once cooled, break up and serve in small bags or small containers.

Can be enjoyed with hot chocolate.


1 waffle mix

1 green food coloring

1 bag of mini M&Ms of your choice

Powdered sugar


  1. Follow instructions on the waffle mix.
  2. Add 3 drops of green food coloring in the mixture, stir until light green.
  3. Add small 2 Tbsp of M&Ms to the mixture, ensure even distribution.
  4. Make waffles in Waffle maker.
  5. Once cooled, dust powdered sugar


1 Package of Pillsbury dinner roll dough

1 stick salted butter

3 Tbsp honey

1 cup shredded mozzarella & cheddar cheese

Dried Parsley


  1. Follow instructions for dough.
  2. Separate dough into 1 oz balls
  3. Put balls into Christmas tree or wreath shape on  a sheet pan
  4. Let dough rise for 15 minutes
  5. Sprinkle cheese mixture over shaped dough
  6. Bake as directed
  7. Melt butter in the microwave for 10 seconds, then add honey.
  8. Brush honey butter on hot baked dough,

Enjoy dinner rolls by pulling them apart.

Recipes mention above are easy, fast and tasty, also can be enjoyed being made with kids.

Next, these are easy sweet festive treats that will have everyone eating more than one at a time. 


Rice Krispies Christmas trees


1 lb whole strawberries

Large marshmallows

Powdered sugar


  1. Remove green stem from strawberries
  2. Cut strawberries in an 80/20 ratio (top section large leaving peak)
  3. Place marshmallow between strawberry pieces
  4. Dust with powdered sugar.


1 sheet rice Krispies (can be bought in a grocery store)

1 Christmas tree cookie cutter

1 Bar white chocolate

1 bag of M&Ms

1 bottle of green food coloring


  1. Place sheet of Rice Krispies on a sheet pan
  2. Cut out trees using the cookie cutter
  3. In a separate glass bowl break up the white chocolate bar
  4. In a saucepan bowl water
  5. Place the glass bowl with broken white chocolate over boiling water and stir until melted.
  6. Place 2 drops of food coloring in white chocolate
  7. Let it dry and serve
  8. Dip one side of a tree in colored white chocolate, do all trees until done
  9. Sprinkle mini M&Ms unto the dipped tree
