Our fav fashionista & fashion writer Nancy Ofoegbu delivers tips on the go-to dresses every Belle should have in their closet this spring.
Do you ever look in your closet and feel like you don’t have enough clothes to wear? This feeling probably intensifies when you have a special event to go to (sometimes last minute!), and you wish you had a better sense of style. Well, I got news for you! That does not always have to be your struggle. There is actually a way to help limit those issues. Let’s take a look at a few items you NEED in your closet. That way, you are always ready to go!
#1: The Little Black Dress
Now, every woman MUST have a little black dress in her closet. Black dresses are the ultimate go-to! You can’t go wrong with it! This is the dress that will save you if you have somewhere to be at the last minute. It gives a sexy and sophisticated look depending on how you dress it up.
#2: The Fit and Flare Dress
This dress style brings in a softer feminine look. It also does a great job of hiding the midsection. If you’ve ever felt bloated or not feeling too confident about wearing something tighter, The Fit and Flare Dress is the dress for you! This is also a good option for women who are a bit more heavy set up top and smaller from the waist down. This dress will make you look more proportional by emphasizing the right areas.
#3: The Midi Dress
The midi dress is what I call the ol’ Faithful! It’s good for interviews and also good enough for a wedding, and you can never go wrong wearing it to church! It’s sophisticated! Depending on the fabric, that will determine the occasion. Polyester fabric tends to be better worn for a daytime look. Satin or lace fabric is more luxurious and also gives a more nighttime look.
#4: The Casual Dress
We are approaching the time where the sun can either be your best friend or your worst enemy. Either way, the last thing you need is to be drowning in the sun. You want to put yourself in an outfit that allows you to feel the breeze and be free! A casual dress is essential for running errands, a nice lunch date with friends, or even a stroll in the park. Whatever the case may be, every woman definitely needs a casual dress in her closet.
#5: The Evening Dress
Now, don’t act like you have not been invited to the last-minute event and have to scramble at the last minute to find something that is even remotely close to what the expected dress code is. Sometimes we don’t have time to shop for something so eloquent. My suggestion is to have one already available. So that if the time comes, you will be ready to go! It doesn’t have to be so overdramatic, but you definitely want to find something that leaves a statement. The longer it is on the floor, the BETTER!
